The interactive sensory garden will provide

  • A calm and inviting space to create a nature-based, sensory-rich environment for children and adults with disabilities
  • An outdoor workspace for not only therapists, but all staff to enjoy a higher quality experience at work
  • Opportunities for community members to come together, socialize and enjoy performances in an inclusive, universally designed, inspiring outdoor rental event space

Everyone can benefit from sensory experiences to connect and understand the world around them.

Current Challenges

Our therapists in our children’s programs are currently limited to indoor sensory spaces. And those are few and limiting in their options. Children and adults with disabilities often have limited access to existing outdoor spaces and experiences with nature because of physical barriers and other obstacles such as transportation.

Funding Needs

“Our kids and teens love to do activities in wide-open environments. It is a huge challenge for us to currently meet the sensory needs for everyone we serve, so having a sensory garden available would make a huge difference. Providing a calm and interactive outdoor space will help each of our program participants meet their personal goals in the best way possible.”  Joe Mattingly Joe Mattingly, Manager, Respite and Camps, Easterseals Crossroads

You can help create sensory experiences for adults and children with disabilities that will empower possibilities for therapy, relaxation, skills development, independence and growth. Your gift will have the long-reaching effect of creating an environment that will be used for years to come making a difference in the lives of young children and adults who otherwise would be denied such an opportunity.
